| With
a stop planned in Seattle at the Triple Door on March 9,
Isobel Campbell (formerly of Belle & Sebastian)
will be playing select US and Canadian dates this
March to unveil songs from her new collaboration
with Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, QOTSA) on V2
Music, Ballad of
the Broken Seas, which is due out on March 7. Backing her on tour will be a group of fellow Glasgow
luminaries: Eugene Kelly (Vaselines)
on vocals
and guitar, Jim McCulloch (Soup Dragons) on guitar and vocals, along with sometime Teenage
Fanclub member Dave McGowan (on everything from bass and keyboards to lap steel)
and Dave Gormley on drums. Campbell
and Lanegan's Ballad of the Broken
Seas is already being noticed in the UK, receiving four stars from MOJO. And
their 4-song EP, Ramblin
Man, which is available now, contains a "quite dirty" cover of the Hank
Williams classic, with Spin.com calling it “a bittersweet mix of country
and rock … walking the line between grit & grace.” Campbell
will also reach into her back catalog
for the tour, playing songs from her first solo record,
Amorino, as well as some covers (including talk of covering the
Vaselines’ "Son of a Gun"). US
